Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Silviu Apps ("we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use the WatTrip mobile application or website at https://wattrip.silviuapps.ro (collectively, the "Service").

We have designed WatTrip with privacy in mind. We do not require an account, we do not collect your name or email address, and we do not sell your data to anyone.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information you provide

WatTrip requires no registration. You do not need to create an account or provide any personal information to use the App. We do not collect your name, email address, or any other identifying information.

1.2 Location data

When you grant location permission, the App reads your device's GPS coordinates to center the map on your current position. Your exact GPS coordinates are processed entirely on your device and are never sent to our servers.

To fetch nearby charging stations, the App sends only a bounding box (the rectangular area currently visible on your map) to the Open Charge Map API. This bounding box does not identify you and changes constantly as you pan or zoom the map.

1.3 Route planning data

When you plan a route, the origin and destination coordinates you enter are sent to OpenRouteService or OSRM solely to calculate the driving polyline. These requests are made directly from your device to the third-party API; we do not receive or store them on our servers.

1.4 Geocoding / search data

Address searches are handled by Photon and Nominatim (OpenStreetMap-based geocoders). The text you type in the search box is sent directly from your device to these services. We do not log or store your search queries.

1.5 Preferences stored locally

Your in-app preferences — such as selected language, vehicle profiles, saved trips, recent routes and cached foreign-exchange rates — are stored locally on your device using standard Android storage. This data never leaves your device and is deleted when you uninstall the App.

1.6 Foreign-exchange rates

To convert charging-station prices published in currencies other than your selected currency (EUR or USD), the App fetches daily FX rates from open.er-api.com and caches them locally. Only an anonymous HTTPS request is made; no personal data is transmitted.

1.7 Advertising data (free version only)

The free version of the App displays interstitial advertisements served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect certain device identifiers and usage data to serve personalised or non-personalised ads, subject to your consent where required by law (e.g. GDPR). For details, see Google's Privacy Policy. Premium subscribers see no advertisements and are not subject to AdMob data collection.

1.8 Subscription & billing data

Premium subscriptions are processed entirely by Google Play Billing. We do not receive or store your payment card details. Google may share with us a pseudonymous purchase token to verify your subscription status. See Google's Privacy Policy for how Google handles billing data.

2. How We Use Information

We use the limited information described above only to:

  • Display the map centered on your location.
  • Fetch nearby charging stations from Open Charge Map.
  • Calculate driving routes and suggest charging stops.
  • Verify active Premium subscriptions via Google Play.
  • Display advertisements to free-tier users via Google AdMob.

We do not use your data for profiling, marketing, or any purpose other than operating the Service.

3. Third-Party Services

WatTrip relies on the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy governing its data practices:

  • Open Charge Map — charging station data (terms)
  • OpenRouteService — primary routing engine (privacy policy)
  • OSRM — fallback routing engine (open-source, self-hosted instances)
  • Photon & Nominatim — address geocoding (OpenStreetMap-based)
  • Google Maps SDK — map rendering (Google Privacy Policy)
  • open.er-api.com — daily foreign-exchange rates (open.er-api.com)
  • Google AdMob — advertising for free users (Google Privacy Policy)
  • Google Play Billing — subscription management (Google Privacy Policy)
  • Firebase Analytics & Firebase Crashlytics — in-app anonymous usage analytics and crash reporting (device model, OS, session metrics, crash stack traces). You can opt out anytime from Settings → Privacy → Help improve WatTrip inside the app. (Firebase Privacy)
  • Google Analytics (this website only) — anonymous visitor statistics on wattrip.silviuapps.ro. Loaded only after you accept cookies via the on-site banner; rejecting keeps the site fully functional with zero tracking. (Google Privacy Policy)

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party. The only data that leaves your device goes directly to the third-party APIs listed in Section 3, solely to provide the functionality of the App.

5. Data Retention

Since we do not collect personal data on our servers, there is nothing for us to retain or delete. Locally stored preferences are removed automatically when you uninstall the App.

6. Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

  • Access — request a copy of any personal data we hold about you.
  • Rectification — request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Erasure — request deletion of your data.
  • Restriction — request that we limit processing of your data.
  • Portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interests.
  • Withdraw consent — withdraw consent for personalised ads at any time via the in-app consent prompt or your device ad settings.

Because we collect no personal data ourselves, most of these rights apply primarily to data held by Google (AdMob / Play). To exercise rights against Google, visit myaccount.google.com. For any other requests, contact us at [email protected].

7. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the Service, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.

8. Security

Because we do not operate servers that store your personal data, there is no central database that could be breached. All sensitive operations (location, routing, billing) are handled either on-device or by reputable third-party providers with their own security practices.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be communicated via an in-app notice. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
